Map features U.S. solar resources, utility-scale solar plants, and high-voltage electric transmission lines. The largest 50 solar plants (by capacity) are numbered on the map as well as presented in a ranked list. In addition, the map includes rankings of counties and states for utility-scale solar power.
Technical notes:
Solar resources are measured by Global Horizontal Solar Irradiance (kWH/m2/day) and based on 1998-2016 data.
Includes all solar plants in the U.S. with at least 1 MW nameplate capacity. Map markers for solar plants were sized relative to their net summer capacity and color coded by photovoltaic and concentrating solar thermal technologies. Some markers were moved slightly to improve visibility.
