Map features high-voltage transmission lines and over 12,000 power plants categorized by 11 different energy sources. The top 100 power plants (by capacity) are numbered on the map and listed in a separate table. Insets are shown for Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico as well as 12 important urban areas.
Technical notes:
Data for all power plants in the U.S. with at least 1 MW nameplate capacity were grouped into 11 different energy sources. In cases where a plant uses more than one energy source, the plant was categorized by its predominant energy source. Map markers for power plants were sized relative to their net summer capacity. Some markers were moved slightly to improve their visibility.
