Map features high-voltage transmission lines and over 13,000 power plants categorized by 11 different energy sources.  The top 100 power plants (by capacity) are numbered on the map and listed in a separate table.  Insets are shown for Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico as well as 12 important urban areas.
​​​​​​​Technical notes:
Data for all power plants in the U.S. with at least 1 MW nameplate capacity were grouped into 11 different energy sources.  In cases where a plant uses more than one energy source, the plant was categorized by its predominant energy source.  Some map markers were moved slightly to improve their visibility.
